The National Trends and Services facet is tasked with eliminating disparities by reducing barriers to resources through advocacy, education, and service. Our chapters are empowered to raise their voices and transform the communities in which they work. The facet’s goals include increasing the number of sustainable and measurable programs; increasing collaborative partnerships; and extending our existing initiatives to include communities identified as having the greatest need.
In order to provide a greater focus on eliminating disparities within the African American community, the National Trends And Services Facet of the Hoffman Estates (IL) Chapter will provide educational programming and resources to the community on their basic rights, with a focus on reducing the negative interactions the African American and Hispanic communities have with law enforcement. The educational programming and resources will help to bring awareness to basic rights and how voting and understanding legislation can help foster positive relationships between the community and law enforcement, thus creating a safer community for the residents and law enforcement.
